Hi Bill,
I have been following you and Midwest whitetail since 2014 and I just want to say what a pleasure it has been to read your blogs and watch the story's unfold of chasing whitetails. The amount I have learned and was able to apply to my own hunting background is limitless, so thank you for spreading the knowledge from your experiences.
My question was if you have or if you can do a review of your gear set up.. such as your bow, arrows, broadhead, sight, and the other accessories that you use to be successful.
Thanks and hope to hear back from you.

Congrats on your new land purchase! How many acres did you purchase? What is the mix of timber vs open ground? Thanks!!View post →
Bill, are you still shooting Hoyt and if so any of the newer ones? So far nothing has really tripped my trigger to get me away from my 2018 Pro Defiant and Carbon Defiant…They just shoot for me! Hope all is well and good luck this season!

Hi Bill,
Hope all is well with you in this new chapter you have taken in life. My question is about rebuilding soil health. Last year the power company brought in a crane and heavy equipment to replace some poles. They really messed up my food plots digging up the clay base. This spring I planted an upland game bird mix which did well on one side of the field and terrible on the side the power company tour up. I am thinking about over seeding it with something to try to help the soil improve for next year or the year after. What do you suggest I plant there? Good luck this fall.View post →
Bill,
What are your thoughts on creating “manmade” habitat pinch points, such as felling trees or a brush blockade, where you can set a stand and have good access in and out undetected, but is maybe not the most “ideal” spot for deer sign? Will deer eventually become accustomed to the new route per ser, and over time will it create a better hunting spot since you are no longer diving into areas where you are spooking deer?
ThanksView post →
Bill,
There are a lot of comments regarding trail cameras not properly hidden will spook deer, especially mature bucks resulting in them leaving the property. I’m curious your experience with trail camera positioning if you “hide” your cameras to not spook deer.View post →
Bill,
To start off, I have been a huge fan of yours for many years and loved the Midwest whitetail series you produced! I hope in the future you will get back in the game and produce another series....viewers will follow you. Anyways, I purchased a 40 acre parcel in the beautiful bluff country of Houston county MN and this will be my 4th season with the property. We have quite a few mature walnut trees interspersed across the 30 acres of timber that we're looking into possibly having a select cut done. Do you have any recommendations of ways to make sure as the landowner I get paid appropriately for the the trees taken? I have never had a property logged before and want to ensure I don't get taken to the cleaners so to speak. And a land management question to go along with it; my property has a lot of bush honeysuckle in the underbrush, do you recommend trying to cut and spray the honeysuckle prior to having a select cut done? Does bush honeysuckle have any value for deer? Thanks in advance for your time in answering my questions. Congrats on the new farm!View post →
Hi Bill,
What are your thoughts on buying farm/rec land under the current economic conditions? Has demand in your area continued to stay the same or has it started to cool off some? Reading your blog about how you built your farm is very inspiring. Hope you and your family are doing well.View post →
Good Day Bill, congrats on you purchasing land in the area you wanted. I'm really looking forward to seeing new videos from you again. I do appreciate your insights and hunting experience. Take care!View post →
Hi Bill. I am a previous Iowa native now living in FL. I enjoyed Midwest Whitetail for many years, especially while I was living and hunting in Iowa. It was, and still remains, a truly novel type of hunting show that was both educational and entertaining. Myself and three other bowhunters from FL have purchased enough pref points to go back to IA to hunt. I previously hunted family farms around Iowa City and that is still an option but I don't have any time to come scout, set stands, etc.. for three other hunters. I would like to find an outfitter for the 2023 season. I really love NE Iowa, I previously frequented there to fish for trout and some hunting around Yellow River SF. The beauty of the driftless region is hard to beat and it doesn't hurt that big bucks like it too. Almost all of the outfitters I find are in Southern Iowa, which I know is an excellent choice for hunting. Can you make any recommendations? I appreciate your adviceView post →
