Bill Winke Consulting Service

Ryan from OH asks,

Hello Bill - Fascinated by your wealth of deer hunting know-how. I’ll make this short - I’m 37 been deer hunting(seriously) for 10+ years … self thought … (154”, 134”, 120”) all on private permission only farms in west-central Ohio. Would you be interested in helping me manage some pretty nice farms (remote advisory only) and then have the opportunity to hunt those farms out-of-state hunt starting next year? I’ve got an image in my mind of your involvement, that if your interested, I could discuss in depth with you. After reviewing the properties and opportunities, you could assess whether willing to allocate the time. If I could convince you to commit yourself, I’d be wiling to pay for out-state license and tag ($300+). I know you’re very busy and this is a long stretch for me, but in my mind, this would be once in a life-time opportunity for me. One that I promise, you’ll probably not regret. Let me know your thoughts, Ryan Sanders

Coming up with the perfect management practices and best stand locations for a piece of land takes a lot of time, but that is a big part of the fun of deer hunting.

Ryan,

Thanks for the support. I appreciate your generous offer.  I can help you to a small extent just because I like helping people, but I probably won’t enter into any formal agreement for services as it takes a long time to really nail down the pieces of the management puzzle and if I am going to devote that much time I probably need to charge for the service. That is something I may do in the coming months, but I am not suggesting that to you.

Just e-mail me separately using the bill@billwinke.com address and I will see what I can do on a limited level to help you get going.  I have learned a lot and I can often see ways to improve a property without spending a lot of time studying all the details.

I don’t hunt out of state much any more (maybe that will change too in the future), but I really just puttering around my old stomping ground where I grew up and look forward to doing more waterfowl hunting on the Mississippi River, etc – stuff I used to do when I was a boy but have not done in decades.  Have a great day.
