Jared from Illinois asks,
Topic: Land Consulting Service and 2020 Season Results: I always watched Midwest whitetail while you were the primary host and I learned a lot, thank you for that. I still check in from time to time and think they are doing a pretty good job, but you left some very large shoes to fill. I read a post that you will not be returning to the show and said you will appear somewhere in the future.... my question I guess is have you made any decisions on what your future will hold? Do you do any land consulting or let people just pick your brain? I am in the process of making my first land purchase and always felt you were prolly the best at giving advise on how to set things up. I will be attending Don Higgins class this spring and I feel he is a pretty smart guy, but maybe not quit as humble as you are. I say this never having met him in person yet, lol, just listened to a lot of his podcast. Did you ever find that piece of whitetail heaven in Northeast Iowa? How did your 2020 season turn out??

Jared,
Thanks. I appreciate the note and the support. I am going to offer a hunting/land management consulting service in the near future but it will be primarily digital. I can learn a lot from talking with someone for a while and from studying aerial photos and topo maps. I don’t have to go to their land to be useful in their hunting and/or land management plans. I will get that launched on the site here in the next few days. Keep watching for that.
I don’t think there is anything wrong with Don Higgins. I think Don knows what he is talking about and does a good job.
Regarding the next dream farm: I have not found it yet. I tried very hard for several months to buy something in that area where I grew up hunting and where my parents still live, but I was not able to find anything. I will keep looking. I did find some places to hunt so I am not without options, but I don’t own anything.
I did shoot a really nice buck up there last fall (photo attached). Everything fell in place very quickly (for once) and I was done hunting way sooner than I wanted to be. Thanks for the support. Have a great day. (3/4/21)
About my previous post stating a thought about Don Higgins, you were 100 percent spot on, there is nothing wrong with him and a very humble guy, just wanted to set that straight. Thank you for your reply congrats on a great buck and I look forward to whatever content you will put out in the future. You are one of the good ones yourself. Thanks again
Thanks Jared. I appreciate you getting back and clearing that up. I have known Don for a long time and I have not known him to be anything but forthright. Have a great day and I appreciate the comment.
