I have been watching all your classic hunts on YouTube and thanks for sharing them. Question is is the G4 buck the biggest buck ever harvested on your farm? Is that the biggest whitetail buck you have ever harvested? Just curious really enjoyed that story and congrats on that amazing buck.View post →
Hey Bill. I'm a big fan of yours. I really like your hunting shows/videos. I definitely think you've helped me be a better hunter. I've only ever hunted in Florida and Georgia and want to hunt Iowa one day but I don't know anyone. I've researched what it takes for out of state people to get a buck tag. My question is when I get my buck tag how do you think i should go about hunting as an out of state hunter. Should i go with an outfitter, my own lease, or just hunt public land? Any ideas where i should look for a lease? I really appreciate your help. I look forward to seeing more videos from you. ThanksView post →
Bill,
I am about half way through your blog series about how you bought your farm. It is very interesting. You took a bunch of risks! From walking away from a steady engineering career to maxing out your debt to income ratio and then some to buy hunting land. How did you talk your wife into all this? Did she ever put the brakes on?View post →
Hi Bill. I was just curious as to your opinion on the RTP Genesis drills. I have 20 or so acres in OH to plant and recently bought an 8HD. I've only used it one time so far. It seems like a pretty solid piece of equipment. I was just wondering how the plantings you did in the past went. Were they successful? Do you have any tips for using it? I've planted one stand of clover/oats this past weekend. It seemed yo work great but the proof will be in the end result I guess. Thanks and have a great day!!View post →
Bill-I've watched MWW for years and appreciate what you've done. Was watching your interview with Huntr on youtube and your comment about saying what you want and without worrying about keeping all sponsors happy. I've always respected how over the years you've had pastor paul or others with devotionals. I love deer hunting and has controlled my life until accepting Christ as my Lord and savior 6 years ago. I still battle hunting as am idol in my life and try to take opportunities to reach other hunters with that common interest to share the gospel and lead others to Christ. With your following I'd love to hear more about your story and using your platform or I'd love to help in anyway you can think of to share the gospel to a group of hunters. I think as we look at the world we live in we can see the need for this.
Have a great day,

Hey Bill, hope you are doing well! With all of the land you have owned I’m sure you have had to deal with your share of neighbors and them pushing the borders. How have you dealt with this in the past, especially if someone is hunting very close to the border line? What are some methods you have used to deter fence sitters and to funnel the deer away from that area and into the safety and cover on the center of your property?
Thank you so much for your time!View post →
I recently purchased a home with 13 acres to start my own little cabin in the woods in Southwest Michigan. It is small but mine and a dream come true!
A 4 ft deep 20 foot wide trout river runs through the middle which dumps into Lake Michigan and the closest ag is a blueberry field a 1/4 mile away and the only corn or soybean is 1-2 miles away.
Any suggestions on how to hunt a river bottom with fairly thick understory and mixed Ash, Elm, Boxwood & Pine? How does a river affect deer movement?View post →
Bill,
I just watched your recent interview with Jared and "Bill Winke: Life After Midwest Whitetail | HUNTR Podcast #12".
Although I am saddened to hear of your departure from MWWT and will sincerely miss your content, it makes sense why you are leaving, and I am happy for you.
I've arguably been one of your biggest fans over the years. . . devouring your content. . . and relishing every second of your "Chasing November" series. I've appreciated your humility, honesty, knowledge of whitetails, and commitment to your faith and family. (Kudos to you for reading the Christmas story from a stand each year!) I have become a much better bowhunter because of your rich content. Thank YOU!
Brief Background:
I'm a 53 year old bowhunter. .. mostly public land. .. 3 year saddle hunter. For the past 16 years, I've been hunting public land bluff country in SE MN.
I always try to look at possible access points and get back further than other hunters. .. .and the greatest challenge for me has always been hunting pressure. There are so many variables. I know that the 500 acres you hunted last fall didn't have the pressure of public land, but my question for you is. . . .
Have you noted any trends hunting in bluff country?
For example: bucks traveling on top thirds of bluffs scent checking for does, hunting bottoms or tops better at certain times of day. . . etc.
Thank you for considering my question. I will miss seeing your content, but am eager to hear of what your future in the industry looks like.
God Bless you and your family,
Eric NaessView post →
What would you say is the single cost valuable aspect of hunting land? Examples; Soil quality, water sources, timber, etc.
I live in the Piedmont of NC where land is very expensive (between $10K - $20k an acre). Opportunities at big farms are hard so what would be the most valuable aspect of a small 10-20 acre tract to make more valuable and hunt “bigger”View post →
hey bill so glad you are doing well and back !! i have having trouble with trail cameras i used to use muddy all the time but can't seem to find them here in Georgia without ordering do you still think that might be the best option for camera or are there some others out there i don't know about that might serve the purpose . i not interested in any thing fancy just easy to use and set up and take good pictures . most everything i tried lately have failed bad just won't last at all . thank you for your time and attention !!View post →
