Bill, we currently have a half acre clover plot that is great during the fall and winter. However, due to the extreme summer heat the clover tends to go a bit dormant during late spring and summer. Do you think it will damage the clover if we were to over seed with a spring/summer crop to provide food when the clover is a bit dormant? Thank you for your time.View post →
Hi Bill,
Hope all is well. My question involves summer scouting and watching velvet bucks. Do you think its a bad idea to film velvet bucks from your box blind in August? How concerned are you about pressuring bucks during summer months? Appreciate you sharing your thoughts. Good luck this fall.

Bill-
First off, huge fan. Congrats on the new farm and love Bowhunting Whitetails. Glad to have you back. I am a first timer when it comes to planting food plots. The farm is in Northern Missouri. I made the mistake of over seeding Big and Beasty in this .57 acre plot. I have an 8lb bag and some spilled in haste as rain was coming in fast. I had no used a whirly bird before so my learning curve was in effect. I ended up using the entire bag knowing not to over seed. Again, I was in a hurry and a bit flustered. I got the seed spread and packed just in time for a very good rain storm. My question is, should I spray and reseed or let it roll and see what happens. I know Frigid Forage says DO NOT over seed. I hate to have the plot choke itself out and not produce. I would love to hear your opinion. Thanks.View post →
How late can you successfully plant big n beasty in Southern Iowa and still expect to have good results.View post →
It’s so good to see you on YouTube once again. Thank you for posting! Have you looked into regenerative plotting? I learned a lot about the from the late Paul Knox, who was an incredible, Godly man. Since his passing what he preached when it came to food plots has really begun to explode. Again, I was just curious if you’ve looked into it. It is so good for the deer, as well as the soil. I was interested in hearing your thoughts. Thank you!View post →
Bill,
Thanks for taking the time to read these Q&A's. I watched your recent episode about your new farm and you mentioned not wanting to let parts of the farm go into cedar patches. Can you explain your thought process on this a little more? I've hunted a few places over the years that were essentially old pastures that had overgrown into cedar thickets and I usually had good luck. I've also seen Owen do segments on his cedar patches and he seems to love them. Just looking to broaden my knowledge base here.
As always, love the content.

Bill great seeing you back online and posting about deer hunting. I have a new farm that I got permission to hunt. Currently it has 100 acres of beans and 30 acres of grass. The land owner has given me permission to plant some food plots in the grass as he doesn't have contracts on it. This farm will be used during youth, early muzzy and late muzzy. Mostly for my kids.
The farm sets up great to ambush them getting to the beans. I figure the beans will be great for the early season until they are harvested.
So far I have killed off two separate 2 acre chunks of grass for food plots. I don't have serious equipment. Do you think I can plant brassicas right over the dead grass or do I need to find a way to clear or mow it?View post →
Hey Bill, congrats on the new farm. My question for you is about your old farm in southern Iowa. You mentioned in a podcast that in that area land changed hands much more often than it does where your at now. What do you think was the main factor that made land sell more often in your old area compared to where your at now?View post →
Hey Bill, have spent quite a bit of time watching all of your videos I could from MW and current. I really enjoy listening to your thought process and creativity in figuring out how to hunt and manage property for deer. I could go on but I hope you keep producing content! My question is in regards to hunting boots. I’m tired of wearing rubber boots hunting and want to switch to lace up. I’ve watched the older video where you recommend Cabela’s boots but like everything else they are discontinued. Can you recommend a uninsulated for early/mid season and a insulated brand/pair for late season? Thanks!View post →
Hi Bill,
I heard one of your strategies on your old farm was to kill does and bring the buck to doe ration down to more acceptable level. You commented that it took 4 years to do it?
How did you do it and did you have to get a nuisance permit? I have a farm in Southern IL that has the same problem and they are eating the row crop beans.
Could you tell me more about that?View post →
