Best Fixed Position Stands

Hey Bill- just started watching your videos and am really enjoying them. I see your a big fan of fixed hunting stands. Do you have one in specific that you could recommend? I've been hunting out of climbers for the longest time- and finding that perfect tree is getting old. Any advice would be appreciated- thank you. Travis.View post →

Knocking Down Corn

Knocking Down Corn
Good morning, I have standing 4 and a 1/2 acres of corn that I plan to leave for the deer my question is should I knock it all down now or knock it down in parts over time? I could also brush hogg it, I know you have stated in the past the deer go to where the corn is knocked down. There are multiple stands around the field, the neighborhoods corn just to the N has been cut. The neighborhoods beans to the E is still standing. I only bow hunt but my little boys will at times use a gun. Not sure if the last info matters or not but I figured why not, hopefully helps paint a fuller picture 😀 . Thank you for your time it's truly appreciated!View post →

Bow Tuning Tips

Bow Tuning Tips
Bill, I was watching your YouTube video on setting up Jordan's bow. I noticed in the video you set the arrow rest left to right based on aligning a nocked arrow to the string and limb bolts. After that you went on to start sighting it in. Does this mean you don't do any paper-tuning or bare-shaft tuning to make adjustments to the rest location? If so I'm very curious on your rationale. I have a Hoyt and I have to move my rest significantly left to get the "bullet hole" paper tears, so I'm very curious about this. Thanks for all the content you've created over the years. -Garret PS. I've been following you since the early days of Midwest Whitetail. I was wondering if Chad Lathrop is still in the hunting industry?View post →

Managing Hunting after an EHD Outbreak

EHD Outbreak
Hi Bill, Good luck to you this year! I am from midwest OH and we are currently struggling with EHD outbreak. I know you have had your fair share of experience with this in Iowa. My question is what is the best way to deal with it from a deer management aspect? Do you just not shoot any deer so genetics can still spread? Where we are there is a lot of flat land with ag fields and small parcels of woods from 5-30 acres. Management is tough but somehow every year some new big ones show up and we have some great bucks. 4-5 shooters that I was after this year have been found dead unfortunately. Definitely not the way I wanted the season to start and not sure the best approach for the rest of the year.View post →

Why Bucks Leave a Farm

Why Bucks Leave
Bill, I’ve experienced bucks disappear for several months, even up to a year or more then all of the sudden they reappear. Not sure that anyone really knows, but why do you think bucks do this? Why would they leave and what made them come back? The buck you hunted called Daggers is a good example of this. Is it social stress, food, cover, etc.? It seems to be an odd phenomenon but is very interesting. Would like to hear your thoughts on this, perhaps might even be a good segment for your YouTube channel to really go into detail on the matter. Take care, thanks!View post →

Body Language when Calling Whitetail Bucks

Bill, really enjoying the new videos you have going out on the youtube page. Have always enjoyed your way of presenting videos in a positive and humble method. Keep up the great work. Wanted to get your thoughts on calling methods to a buck during the rut without does. Is there any key body language messages you try to pick up from the deer before or after making a grunt or some sort of call?View post →

Redneck Blind Purchase

Redneck Blind Purchase
Bill, Thirty nine years is a long time, I know you know how it feels to bow hunt for that long, and so I finally purchased my first Redneck Blind after watching you video a few weeks ago or month already. Not a cheap purchase so make sure you pass this on to your friends at Redneck that their sponsorship and support sells product. Thanks again for your knowledge base, in-fact I have been reading/watching your work that 39 years! Tony Hough, Harlan, IowaView post →
